Hemming Machines

Hemming machine is a kind of sheet metal machinery. In the field of metal forming, hemming machines are similar to seam machines because they are similar metalworking processes in which the sheet metal edge is rolled over onto itself. Using a similar method, there will be some subtle differences between the two. For example, hemming is the process by which the edges are rolled flush with themselves, and the seam joins the edges of the two materials together.

Hemming is commonly used to reinforce edges, hide burrs and rough edges and improve appearance. Similarly, seaming is commonly used in canned food in the food industry, amusement park cars, metal roofing, and the automotive industry. Both seaming and hemming are metal forming techniques, and the role of these two is also important for product manufacturers to create the quality of the final product. With a good hemming machine, the processed metal parts have better quality and better functions.

In the metal processing industry, metal forming is faster than cutting (such as turning centers, milling machines, machining centers, etc.), so various metal forming machines account for a large part of the machine tools filed.

Inner sheet conjoining

The Hemming machine for joining inner sheet metal panels is designed with outer sheet metal panels. The machine comprises a hemming tool which contains an electromagnetic coil. The electromagnetic coil is positioned to electromagnetically curl and weld the outer metal plate to the inner metal plate. This metal forming process is very simple, but it has many key factors, which determine the final output of the machine.

Cold forming and other forming arts

Hemming machines are machines that process the edges of metal sheets. It is used for large-scale production of stainless steel sheet products with simple shapes, but with the continuous update of technology, these products are currently processed by cold bending press.

Cold heading is a method of metal forming, which can be used in forging, extrusion, and upsetting process. This process is specifically performed in the cold state, so it is called cold working. The cold heading process usually makes a work piece that is close to the final shape.

Cold working or cold forming refers to any metal working process in which the processed metal is formed below the crystallization temperature. The crystallization temperature is lower than the ambient temperature. Compared with hot working (such as hot forging), there are many advantages. During the hot working process, the temperature of the processed metal will increase, causing the particles inside the work piece to be rearranged, which may cause uncontrolled deformation of the work piece. For this reason, the cold working is relatively stable and predictable.

Cold processing is generally divided into four categories. These are squeezing, bending, drawing, and shearing. All four types have their own functions and advantages. Compared with similar machines carry out hot working, the implementation is simpler.

Today, many presses are commonly used in metal processing and forming, for example clinching, forging, molding, punching, blanking, deep drawing, and other forming operations on various metal materials. Using a press can greatly reduce the cycle time of the production process, while maintaining an acceptable tolerance. Compared with metal cutting, metal forming provides higher output, which in turn achieves the goal of mass production. In addition, the use of a good sheet metal blanking machine can make the process of sheet blanking smoother when the workers in the production line operate the forming machine, thus obtaining great production outputs.

Conclusion

In the field of sheet metal machinery, hemming machines are very common and widely used. Although the hemming machine is not the same as the seam machine, there are many similarities between the two machine models. One of the similar processes is to flip the sheet metal edge onto itself. The edging will curl the edges flush with each other, and the seam will connect the edges of the two materials together. Even if the two processing methods use similar methods, there are still some differences. In the metal processing industry, more and more intelligent elements are added to the design and production of machinery, so many elements can be integrated into intelligent production lines, which is one of the key links in synchronization with the entire manufacturing plant.
